This $58 million project in Columbus expanded an existing six-story bed tower by adding a seventh floor for critical care services. The 100,000 SF addition introduced 43 ICU rooms, including 12 infectious isolation rooms and protective environment rooms for oncology patients.
Adding a floor to an active hospital required a detailed review of the existing structure, building systems, and central energy plant to confirm capacity and determine the upgrades needed to support the expansion. Work was completed with minimal disruption to hospital operations while delivering new care spaces that meet current clinical standards.
